Halloween

Did you know that because fairies are so small, they can only hold one feeling at a time?  So when they are happy, they are only happy.  And when they are mad, they are REALLY mad.  Which is why my sweet, yet sometimes angry little blondie was a perfect Tinker Bell for Halloween.

We went to the Halloween party at our library's Story Hour.

Then, on Saturday, my Great-Aunt Virginia threw a party for the family. I'm a cat holding a round (and getting rounder) fishbowl.  Chris is Mr. Money Mustache.  For an explanation, go here: http://www.mrmoneymustache.com/

We had tons of fun dressing up...except for my mother (in the middle) who uses Halloween as the one time of year to take off her costume and go as her true self. :)

Unborn babies have to dress up too! (And yes, that's a creepy lurking Santa back there)

Chris got a little excited decorating our car for the church's Trunk or Treat and then our garage on Halloween night.  As you can see, it was pretty terrifying.

Happy Halloween!!

Time Out

A couple weekends ago my sisters, my mom, and I went to Time Out for Women (a women only conference put on by Deseret Book).  It was inspiring and refreshing.  We spent Friday night in a hotel and made it a special girl's weekend.

It was a great time!

BABY

As hinted at in my earlier post, we're having Baby #2!  I'm 24 weeks pregnant (almost 6 months).

Being pregnant this time around is so different.  I don't get to sit there and dream of who this little person is going to be, because I'm too busy being a Mom!  But it's so fun to talk to Audrey about the baby.  She's been to several of my doctor's visits. She loves to talk about the "lotion" (or "sosho", in Audrey language) that the doctor puts on my belly.  And then she'll say "heartbeat", "kuh, kuh, kuh".  Can't wait to see these two interact!

Connors Farm

We went to a super fun farm on Monday.  Audrey had a blast!

We saw some animals - she called the Llama "mama"; I kind of love that.

Then we did some really cool "big kid" activities.  It's strange to me that she can actually participate in stuff like this now.

The hayride.

We walked through a cornmaze. (and no, I'm not getting fat - there's a baby in there.)

We were just saying that the maze was a little lame when we realized that we didn't exactly know how to get out.  So we quickly took back our words - not so lame after all!

We topped the day off with a walk through the pumpkin patch.

I asked Audrey if she wanted to buy this pumpkin and she immediately began to bite it.  Oh, technicalities...

Landscaping

After tearing the enormous stump of a pine tree out of our backyard, we were in desperate need of some landscaping.  So, as usual, we found some guys who agreed to work for cheap.  (Okay, so my Dad and brother, Damen, came and helped us.)

 Damen drove his father-in-law's Kubota.

 Audrey helped.

We're really happy with how it turned out.  Now we're just hoping some grass will grow!

Kitchen Table

Chris and I like nice things just as much as the next guy.  However, one can often hear us say, "I'm not going to pay that much for that when I could make it myself for much cheaper."  Chris felt this way about kitchen tables...so we've been eating off a wobbly card table for over a year.

About a month ago, we were cleaning out our back garage when Chris noticed that the filthy shelf against the wall was actually made with some decent wood. (disclaimer: our garage is much cleaner than this - with paint on the walls over the grafiti - this is just the only picture I had of the shelves; they were a diamond in the rough)

Perfect.  Because while we like inexpensive, we love free.  So he set to work.

For legs, he used the wood that he took off the old deck.  And once again, Chris' creative genius has paid off in a beautiful, yet practical way. Those old shelves became this:

Let's hope it's not another year before we get some good chairs.  Because yes, Audrey sits on a plastic outdoor chair.  I'd like to think we aren't cheap, we're just patient.  Glad we waited for an awesome table!

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

These days are gone...

Audrey was a little fish this summer.  She was totally fine just floating along with her water-wings.  But summer is over, and last weekend we welcomed fall with a trip to Phil's Apples.

Audrey loves being with her cousins!

And there's no better way to eat an apple than straight off the tree (or sometimes straight off the ground).

Rhode Island

Last week we took a little trip to Rhode Island. We spent the first day in Newport visiting a couple Mansions.
We checked out Rosecliffe first.

It was beautiful, but all Audrey wanted to do was take her shoes off to play in the fountain.

Next up was the Breakers Mansion. I felt like royalty in there (unfofrtunately, we couldn't take pictures inside).

This was the children's playhouse. Yup, I'm pretty sure it's the size of our house.

Audrey and Chris found a friendly bunny outside.

When our visit to the mansions was over, we took a stroll along the cliffwalk while the sun was setting before heading to our hotel.

Audrey wasn't sure what this was at first, but was excited to find out it's a phone. She kept saying, "hello, hello?".

The next day we went to Roger Williams Park & Zoo.

Audrey loved seeing all the animals, especially this elephant because we saw him eating. Now, when we ask her about the zoo, she just says, "eating, eating".
